Galesnjak

Galesnjak is one of the most famous and unique islands in Croatia. When you see pictures of this beautiful island, it's sure to cause a tingling feeling of love - this is because this unique island is actually shaped like a heart. The island is small in terms of surface area and remains uninhabited. Neither is the island known for its natural beauty, just low vegetation. Despite all this, this is one of the most popular islands in the world.

What sets apart Galesnjak from the thousands of other islands in the world is its unique heart shape. Galesnjak first came into the public eye in 2009 when Google Earth recorded the unique shape of the island. However, the first chart of this island was actually made in the early 19th century by Napoleon's cartographers - a fact that surprises many visitors when they first lay eyes on this cute heart-shaped island. The island was then also included in the Atlas of the Dalmation Coast, which was made in 1806. However, the Galesnjak Island truly shot to fame after being spotted on Google Earth.

Today, the Galesnjak Island is popularly nicknamed as 'the island of love' or the 'lover's island.' It is a highly popular destination for couples. Many couples flock to the Galesnjak Island for a honeymoon, to celebrate their anniversaries, important dates, and many young men even choose this island to propose to their loved partner. It is not wrong to say that today the island has developed a sort of an aura or a magical charm that attracts all those who are in love.

So what all can you do at the Galesnjak Island? Well, as mentioned above, the island is uninhabited, and there are no manmade buildings or tourist facilities on the island. However, it attracts many visitors who are attracted by the island's adventurous and wild atmosphere. This isolated, quiet, and peaceful place is a serene getaway for those who do not want to be bothered. This is unlike any of the other island destinations in Croatia or anywhere else that are crowded with tourists. This is why it is a perfect location to build many beautiful and romantic memories.

The island does have many pebble beaches, even though the beaches are not amongst the best-rated beaches in Croatia, they are still good enough for visitors to enjoy a romantic swim here. Galesnjak Island is surrounded by the enigmatic emerald-blue sea of the Pasman Channel, which further adds an extra charm to its overall heaven-like atmosphere. Most of the visitors to the island often feel like they could continue to stay here itself, but since there is no accommodation on the island, it is not possible for anyone to stay overnight at the island. The only option for those who want to spend the night on the island is camping. Many people who visit Galesnjak settle on the nearby city of Zadar or the island of Pasman. You can easily rent a boat from the many rental agencies in both Pasman Island and Zadar.
